In the past, PMI® had published 61% of 200 questions as the passing score. But now, PMI does not disclose the exact passing score or percentage anymore. After the PMP® Certification Exam update, the passing score is different for every candidate and is based on the difficulty level of questions being attempted by each candidate.

Any verifying manager or supervisor can sign the Experience Verification Form and Experience PDF attachment.

You can send your completed audit forms to the PMI®’s official address by regular postal mail or express courier service. The PMI® does not accept faxed or emailed audit documents. Participants should send all documents in one envelope to expedite the processing time.

In the event of a failed audit, the certification fee (minus a processing fee) will be refunded. The Certification Department will take further action on a case-by-case basis. If you fail the PMP® application audit, the PMI® will deduct $100 from your application fee, and you will receive a refund of the remaining fees paid.

You must pay the fee when you submit your application form, which is before the audit.

  • Signatures from your supervisor(s)/manager(s) from the project(s) you worked on

You can send your completed audit forms either by regular postal mail or by express courier service to the address mentioned below. Make sure to send all the audit documents in one envelope as sending those documents separately can lead to a delay in the audit review process.

The standard method of  PMI examinations is center-based testing (CBT). Paper-based testing (PBT) is also available under certain limited circumstances which are detailed in the “Examination Administration” section below.

The PMP examination consists of 200 multiple-choice questions, out of which 25 are pretest questions. These pretest questions do not affect the final score and are used to test the validity of future examination questions. All of the 200 questions are placed randomly throughout the exam.

  • Total Questions: 200
  • No. of Scored Questions: 175
  • No. of Pretest Questions (Unscored): 25
  • Allotted Examination Time: 4 hrs

This examination is preceded by a tutorial and followed by a survey. Both are optional and can take up to 15 minutes to complete. The time used to complete both the tutorial and survey are not included in the examination time of four hours.

Examination Administration:

Alternative testing options are available in the following instances:

  • The distance to a CBT site is more than 240 km (150 miles)
  • A CBT site is not available within the country of residence and traveling across country borders is prohibited/unduly burdensome

Once your application has been accepted, the one-year exam eligibility period will start. After the certification fee payment has been made, PMI will send an email notification with your PMI eligibility ID, which you will use to schedule a test appointment. You can take the examination three times within this exam eligibility period should you not pass on the first attempt.

After completion of PMP Training, you can schedule an exam appointment after PMI receives payment of your certification fee.
Follow these instructions to schedule your test appointment with Pearson VUE – Pearson VUE Instructions

You can reschedule or cancel the exam at any time until two calendar days before your scheduled exam appointment. However, because of limited seating capacity at the test centers, cancellations and rescheduling the exam will lead to a fee.

Please read the following policy carefully.

Within 30 days of your appointment

If you reschedule or cancel your exam within 30 days of your scheduled appointment, you will be charged a fee of US $70. This fee helps to ensure greater seating availability at test centers since candidates who wait until the last minute to reschedule or cancel their exams are “reserving” seats that could be used by others. The fee will be charged when you go online to reschedule or cancel your exam within the 30-day period. The $70 charge will appear on your credit card as a charge from the test vendor. The 30-day period does not include the day of the exam appointment. For example, if you scheduled your exam for May 5th, you must reschedule or cancel the exam on or before April 4th to avoid the fee. For emergency situations in which you are unable to change your exam appointment before 30 days of your exam appointment, the Extenuating Circumstance Policy may apply. The details of Extenuating Circumstances are given below. PMI will evaluate these situations on a case-by-case basis to determine if a refund of the rescheduling fee is appropriate.

Within 2 days of your appointment

You need to reschedule or cancel your appointment before you are within two calendar days of your exam appointment. If you wait until you are within two days of your exam appointment, you will be able to cancel your appointment and you will forfeit the entire exam fee. You will not be able to reschedule your appointment at this point and will need to pay associated reexamination fees to schedule a new exam.

Extenuating Circumstances

PMI understands that there are times when personal emergencies may cause you to reschedule or cancel your exam within 30 days of the appointment OR miss a scheduled exam appointment (resulting in a no-show status). The extenuating circumstances can include:

  • Medical emergency
  • Military deployment
  • Death in immediate family
  • Illness in immediate family
  • Natural disaster

According to PMIs calculation, the concept of non-overlapping experience refers to the following:

If a professional is working on multiple projects at the same time, then the experience will be counted for one project over that stipulated period for which he/she worked on the project.

Example: Mr. A has managed 2 projects in 2016, Project 1 ran from Jan’16 to Aug’16 (8 months) and Project 2 ran from April’16 to Dec’16 (9 months). In this case, we have an overlap of 5 months (Apr’16 to Aug’16). So the experience for these 5 months will be counted as 5 months and not as 10 months (5×2=10). The non-overlapping experience is 12 months.

We offer 24/7 support through email, chat, and calls for PMP training course.

We also have a dedicated team that provides on-demand assistance through our community forum. What’s more, you will have lifetime access to the community forum, even after completion of your pmp course with us.

Our teaching assistants are here to help you get certified in your first attempt after completion of pmp training.

They are a dedicated team of subject matter experts to help you at every step and enrich your learning experience from class onboarding to project mentoring and job assistance.

They engage with the students proactively to ensure the pmp course path is followed.

Teaching Assistance is available during business hours.

After completion of pmp training, one can take up the pmp certification exam. The average salary for a PMP® certified project manager is $111,000.

One hour of classroom instruction equals one contact hour. If you have completed a university or college course on project management that met for three hours per week for 15 weeks, you would record 45 contact hours. If only a portion of a pmp course dealt with project management, only the hours spent on project management can be applied toward the total.

PDUs are the measuring unit used to quantify approved learning and professional service activities.

Through this PMP training program, you learn:

  • Project management basics
  • How to create a high-performance team and keep them on track
  • How to plan and manage a project
  • Align the project objectives with the organization’s goals

Here are some roles that require pmp certification:

  • Project manager
  • Project engineer
  • Operations manager
  • Assistant project manager

A project management professional’s responsibilities after completion of pmp training include planning, organizing, executing, and completing a specific project, while ensuring that the project is completed on time, on budget, and within scope.

The PMBOK guide helps professionals create a specific project management plan that includes:

  • Project scope
  • Project budget
  • Project schedule
  • Standard process across departments
  • Quality management
  • Communication management
  • Risk analysis
  • Stakeholder engagement
  • Procurement management

This means that the PMBOK guide helps professionals become proficient in project management.

The PMP course covers the latest best practices highlighted in the PMBOK Guide 6th Edition and aligns with the latest PMP Examination Content Outline 2021.

The Project Management Professional (PMP)® is a globally acknowledged professional certification that validates a professional’s education and experience in project management. This coveted credential is offered by the reputed Project Management Institute to professionals who qualify in the PMP Exam conducted by the Project Management Institute (PMI)®.

Why PMP certification? Here are the top 10 reasons you should consider getting PMP certified:

Reason 1: Globally Acknowledged

Who should become PMP certified? Anyone who wants the freedom to work anywhere in the world. The PMP certification is one of those credentials whose reputation precedes them, recognized and sought-after the world over (there are more than 760,000 PMP certified professionals worldwide as of May 2017). Achieving the PMP certification helps professionals demonstrate and showcase their skills and expertise to potential employers across the globe.

Reason 2: Salary Bump

If you’ve wondered why to get a PMP certification, you should know that PMP holders typically enjoy a dramatic and steep hike in salary once they have attained the PMP certification. On average, PMP certified professionals earn 17% more than their non-certified counterparts, according to the Project Management Salary Survey, Eighth Edition. According to the PMI’s Project Management Salary Survey released in July 2017, PMP certified professionals earn a median salary of $111,969 per year in the United States.

Reason 3: Expand Your Market Reach and Scope

PMP certification holders are a global yet close-knit community. There are many Project Management forums and online communities that attract PMP professionals from across the world who are willing to share tips, insights, and pool their experience—helping everyone stay abreast of the latest industry developments and trends.

Reason 4: Better Job Opportunities

PMP Certification opens up better career avenues and provides professionals with greater job opportunities in the project management world. According to a PricewaterhouseCoopers survey, 80% of high-performing projects use PMP credentialed project managers; according to the PMI Pulse of the Profession study, organizations with more than 35% PMP certified project managers demonstrated much better project performance than those without a PMP certification.

Reason 5: Project Management Professionals Get The Most Challenging Projects

The PMP Certification earns a professional a challenging and important role since the certification demonstrates an individual’s dedication to project management and attests to that person’s knowledge and experience in handling challenging projects. Additionally, since even the eligibility to take the PMP exam includes both education and experience, the PMP Certification validates one’s skills and experience leading and directing projects.

Reason 6: Project Management Professionals Demonstrate Better Project Performance

Not all project managers are PMP certified. Consequently, project managers who lack the credential perform less efficiently than their certified peers. The standards for the rigorous PMP exam are higher than other pmp certifications, testing professionals on five project management processes: initiating, planning, executing, monitoring & controlling, and closing, providing the Project manager with a detailed, standardized, actionable set of project management best practices.

Further, in order to qualify for the PMP exam, aspirants must have an in-depth understanding of nine knowledge areas of project management, including project scope management, integration management, human resource management, time management, cost management, quality management, and procurement management.

Reason 7: Greater Visibility To Recruiters

Research across industries suggests that organizations prefer hiring PMP certified project managers rather their non-credentialed peers. The PMP certification is a standard that demonstrates a professional’s expertise in project management and it immediately catches a recruiter’s eye during profile evaluation.

Reason 8: Applicable to Most Industries

The PMP certification is an ideal bet for all project managers in various professional fields, including IT, telecom, business processing, commerce, finance, research, and more.

Reason 9: A Great Investment for Your Future

The exam itself falls into about the middle range in terms of cost. While not as expensive as many of the high-tech, very specific exams, it isn’t something you are likely to take lightly. At $555 a test (unless you are a PMI® member, in which case it is $405), it doesn’t seem too expensive.

The passing rate of the PMP exam is estimated to be around 50 – 60%. Once you consider the pass/fail rate, you may decide that you need formal training. These types, of course, can cost between $1,500 and $2,000—not counting the cost of the exam.

Reason 10: Project Management Professionals are Secure Even During Economic Downturns

With the economy yet to get back to where it was 15 years ago, there is still plenty of uncertainty. While no one is immune to layoffs and downsizing, 80% of executives around the world believe that having a PMP certification demonstrated core competencies that made the certification holders valuable even during a recession.

If you are considering working toward your PMP exam, Simplilearn offers a variety of project management courses that will help you pass, including the PMP Certification Training Course. Our PMP training courses are conducted by certified, highly experienced professionals with at least ten years of experience.

PMP is a registered mark of the Project Management Institute, Inc.

No. PMI® does not mandate any expiry timeline for contact hours earned to qualify for the PMP® Exam, as long as you retain the proof (certificate). There is no deadline or expiry date, though the contact hours must have been acquired before the submission of the application to PMI®. For example, if you earn the contact hours in 2013, there’s nothing stopping you from taking the exam in 2017.

Contact us using the form on the right of any page on the Simplilearn website, or select the Live Chat link. Our customer service representatives will be able to give you more details on PMP training program.

You are granted a one-year eligibility period in which to pass the examination after completion of PMP training. During the eligibility period, you may take the examination up to three times. If you fail the examination three times within your one-year eligibility period, you must wait one year from the date of the last examination you took to reapply for the certification. However, after failing a certification examination three times, candidates may opt to apply for any other PMI® certification.

Yes, you can apply for reevaluation. You may submit a written request to the PMI® Certification Department for review of their decision. Requests can be sent by postal mail to PMI®, or by email to certappeals@pmi.org.

PMI will not be updating the PMP exam after the release of the PMBOK® Guide 7th Edition. Since both the PMP exam and the PMBOK Guide use updated and accurate terms already used by project managers in the field, there is no need to update the exam after the PMBOK® Guide is updated.

A PMP certificate is a credential awarded by the Project Management Institute (PMI) to those who pass the Project Management Professional (PMP) certification exam successfully. It is the gold standard in the field of project management and helps professionals benchmark their skills and increase their credibility. Our PMP training can help you prepare for this exam and pass it in a single try.

The PMP certificate is valid for three years. To maintain your PMP certification, you need to achieve 60 Professional Development Units (PDUs) in a 3-year cycle.

A PMP certificate is proof of your top-notch skills in the field of project management. It verifies an individual’s ability to speak the global language of project managers and brings all kinds of projects (even the complex ones) to successful completion. By achieving the credential, you can work in virtually any industry as a project manager.

First, you need to check whether you are eligible to take the PMP certification exam. For example, a four-year degree, 36 months of experience in leading projects, and 35 hours of PMP training is required to become eligible. Next, you need to pass the PMP certification exam to receive the PMP certificate.

PMI, in one of its salary surveys, found that PMP certification holders earned around 25 percent higher average salaries in North America than their non-certified peers. The PMP certificate is recognized globally and you can significantly improve your earning potential with it.

Companies face losses worth millions of dollars due to poor project management practices. So, it becomes crucial for project managers to gain the right skills and learn how to bring projects to successful completion. A PMP certificate is highly regarded by organizations worldwide, and hiring managers rely on it to find the right candidates for their project manager positions. By obtaining a PMP certification, you can increase your credibility as well as improve your salary prospects.

If you are a PMI member, you need to pay USD 60 as a renewal fee. For non-PMP members, the renewal fee is USD 150.

The PMP certification exam is quite difficult, even for those who have experience in project management. So, the time it takes to prepare for the exam entirely depends on your prior knowledge and the intensity with which you prepare. If you are dedicated enough, it can take you around six months for complete preparation with the help of PMP training.

Once you clear the PMP exam, you will receive your certificate package within 6 to 8 weeks. You will also receive your digital badge through Credly that can be shared on social media platforms to mark your achievement.
